Long time no post! Now that is the summer holidays, I can finally start to post more often.
As soon as our exams finish, my group of friends and I planned a trip down to Tauranga, stopping at Ngatea and Paeroa on the way for breaks.
On the first day we got to our bach and unpacked. I didn’t get a chance to take nice photos of where we stayed because I was just exhausted from the drive down! The girls and I went out to explore the town while majority of the guys stayed back to play games and chill. The town is so close knit and cute, but at around 3-4pm, majority of the shops were already closed, which was pretty disappointing. Instead, we spent the night dining at the night market and shopping for groceries. This was also the night where my group of friends surprised me with the most beautiful birthday cake from Bluebells Cakery and got me a Daniel Wellington watch!
On the second and third day, the weather was horrible. It was cold, windy and raining. We went to check out the shops again, also stopping by to see the farmers market! In the afternoon we bathed at Mount hot pools, right at the bottom of Mount Maunganui. These salt pools are awesome and a great place to relax! Even though it did start pouring with rain, that did not stop us from ending the night with a BBQ.
The third day was the day we planned to go to Whale Island. However, the poor weather meant that it was cancelled and we all slept till noon. We spent majority of the afternoon playing games and despite the weather we got dressed and went out to explore Kaiate Falls.
Thankfully, on the last day of the trip the weather was beautiful. We climbed to the summit of Mount Maunganui. This is a MUST if you’re heading to the mount. The view is totally worth it and the climb doesn’t take long at all. However, despite the sunny weather, the water was still freezing so we weren’t able to go for a swim afterwards.
