The Apothecary is a cafe in Howick Village which is incredibly popular with the locals. I have visited on multiple occasions and love the antiques. The decor is very unique compared to other cafes I’ve been to and is definitely worth checking out. We don’t have many cafes out in East Auckland so this place is quite refreshing.
For a Sunday morning, I was pleasantly surprised by how fast our food came and how easy it was to find a table. The buttermilk pancakes ($17) from here are delicious (although the brownie tasted a bit too sweet). The portions may look small but each pancake is quite big and fluffy and definitely fills you up. The coffees are alright (I think their ice coffees are pretty good though) and staff are friendly. It is a great place to go for a catch up with friends due to its relaxing atmosphere!
This cafe is located conveniently by a bus stop and there is lots of parking available. This is a nice change instead of going to the city where parking is difficult to find and costs you an entire meal.
